Boswell Tavern, Louisa Virginia
Boswell Tavern is located at the early formed Zions Crossroads in the late 1700s. This tavern was a welcome sight to weary travelers from all corners of Virginia.
We took these pictures this past Sunday. Unfortunately for history this once beautiful tavern is in dire need of lots of repair and restoration.
The following site is the newly formed The Journey Through Hallowed Grounds of important historical sites along Route 15 in west central Virginia.

Main Street, Louisa, VA..They don't make them like this anymore!
Old Rexall Drugs sign on Main Street in Louisa, Virginia. I wonder how old the sign is? I am sure it is fast becoming a relic of the past of any Main Street anywhere in the USA.

Main Street...Louisa Virginia
Having lunch at Obrigado on Main Street in Louisa, Virginia. We talked with the chef and a couple of customers about our love of traveling and taking pictures. Here I am showing off two local artist's rendition of perhaps barns in Louisa County. We were told of an architect who has done a recent article on barns and the need for preservation of them. I am keen on preservation, but that is not always possible as some barns are so far gone. I am keen on pictures of all barns as the way to record this rapidly vanishing period of our rich American farm history.

Newport, Rhode Island grand homes

The top picture is of the Edward King house.
The third picture is of a grand home across from the Isaac Bell house on Bellevue Ave. The picture just above is also on Bellevue Avenue toward the end of this street. Newport is so full of nautical homes and history. Probably many a sea captain build his grand homes as a result of many long voyages to all parts of the world trading this and that which started to make our world smaller and smaller.

Barns on old US 35 Greene County Ohio
We think that the structure directly above is an octagonal shaped barn which is very unusual, but it may be a Native American sweat lodge as we have seen another one and it looks similar.
The top picture is of an old barn along this same route. I purposedly made it in sepia as I think it adds to the aged effect. This barn won't be around much longer which is why it is so important for me to capture pictures of these old barns right now.

Lonely dog on a lonely road
We were in Nelson County, Virginia, with the Alberta Clipper snow squalls coming down when we spotted this dog trotting down the middle of the road. It was a strange ride for us and a lonely walk for this dog.

Abandoned motel...Dublin, Indiana
We are fascinated with some old buildings....one being old-fashioned motels. This abandoned one was found in Dublin, Indiana. We were traveling west on US Route 40 instead of taking Interstate 70 which runs parallel pretty much to route 40.

Brooklyn New York to Wood's Hole Massachusetts
As is true in life, sometimes telling a story backwards makes more sense than forward. In this case I forgot that blogger loads its pictures in reverse order of the way you intended. So this trip starts with the bottom pictures of my husband and son commanding the controls (as always) with me sitting lonely in the back seat trying to capture a view in whatever way I can.
But, low and behold, unbeknownst to me, we stop at this wonderful, one-of-a kind pizzeria, in New Haven Connecticut, complete with beer to wet the palate. The pizza was excellent in case you were wondering
Then back on the road to Massachusetts and it is a lonely road indeed since it was 2 days after Christmas.
