National Historic Road sign...US Route 40

Today's journey shows a few photos from US Route 40, also known as the National Historic Road. We are going through Richmond, Indiana on this route. It pretty much runs parallet to boring I-70.

Barns on old US 35 Greene County Ohio

We think that the structure directly above is an octagonal shaped barn which is very unusual, but it may be a Native American sweat lodge as we have seen another one and it looks similar.
The top picture is of an old barn along this same route. I purposedly made it in sepia as I think it adds to the aged effect. This barn won't be around much longer which is why it is so important for me to capture pictures of these old barns right now.

I love old wooden barns... today's collection is found in West Virginia

The above picture is of a shed type barn.

These mainly Dutch style farm barns are still found along US Route 35 along the Kanawha River flood plain.
These are all in West Virginia.
