Our invaluable 1980 Volvo
We bought this 1980 Volvo in 1982 and it served our 4 person family through all the normal trials and tribulations that a family life brings for about 23 years. When we finally sold it it had over 225,000 miles, I always said I never needed weight training as driving this Volvo with no power steering was like driving a tank. In some ways I miss the memories these pictures of the Volvo bring. I saw it a couple of months after we sold it for $500 and it looked so bad that I doubt it is around anymore.

Pope Hartford automobile
I am reading the book, http://www.amazon.com/The-Devils-Rooming-House-Deadliest/dp/1599216019 and in it the Pope Hartford automobile is mentioned as the main car used by authorities in 1911. Never having heard of this type of auto, although my husband tells me at the turn of the 20th century there were many auto companies, I had to look it up.http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z10060/Pope-Hartford-Model-W.aspx
Kind of odd and funny looking car compared to other models and cars of today. Glad I heard about it.

LONDON (AP) — Chinese trampolinist Dong Dong captured the men's Olympic title Friday, posting a score of 62.990 to easily give him a gold medal to go with the bronze he won in Beijing four years ago.
Dmitry Ushakov of Russia was second. Defending Olympic champion Lu Chunlong of China was third.
The 23-year-old Dong dominated the event, posting the top overall score in qualifying and beating Ushakov by more than point in the finals.
Dong pumped his fists in celebration after giving China its second straight gold medal in the event, which was introduced at the Sydney Games in 2000.
